 LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM 

Linux is a family of open-source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991, by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution. 

Components of Linux System 

Linux Operating System has primarily three components

Kernel: The kernel is the core part of Linux. It is responsible for all major activities of this operating system. 

System Library: System libraries are special functions or programs using which application programs or system utilities access Kernel's features 

System Utility: System Utility programs are responsible for doing specialized, individual level tasks.
